I see Roger Larkins is calling for a repeal on light smacking having been banned. The wording seems to be obfuscate at it's worst as if this is what you are asking for as the law already allows for light smacking in the clause which states that inconsequential physical correction will not be prosecuted.

However, can you comment on your position on the father who recently slapped his 4 year old daughter for soiling herself?

While I fully support all parties having collective policies, I would really like to know more about each of the candidates as individuals. A party is more than policies and the character and integrity of the candidates I believe is of paramount importance. Can you please answer the following:

- What is your background?

- How long have you been involved on the political scene?

- Have you ever had any interest in doing something about pushing for Alcohol Reform?

- Are you married?

- What sort of person are you?

The National government (along with the Maori Party and other supporters) recently passed the Marine and Coastal Act (March, 2011), which allows Maori tribes to apply to the government to have ownership rights over beaches and the seabed (out to 20km). How can public access be guaranteed if, (as stated in the Act), a tribe, once it has customary title, can declare a wai tapu over an area, which could mean excluding members of the public or at least stopping them from doing certain activities which they formerly had the right to do?

If voters elect to retain MMP in the first referendum, what changes will you advocate in the review of MMP?

examples:
- the threshold of 5% or 1 electorate seat
- using open party lists
- the voting method used to elect electorate MPs
- the balance between the number of electorate MPs and list MPs
- the St Lague formula used to allocate list seats, as opposed to D'Hondt etc.
- creating regions with regional party lists like in German and Scottish MMP
- not allocating more than 120 seats in the event of an overhang

I have lived in Wellington Central for over 15 years and see MPs all the time but none of the ones every elected for Wellington Central ever seem to do anything for us.

If you win the seat what will you do to make sure Wellington Central isn't the forgotten electorate?

If you plan to keep it in any form, on whose authority are you taking millions of dollars from NZ consumers, that will have no measureable effect on the climate? (IPCC has been discredited; NIWA cannot justify their temperature series; world temperatures are not rising.)

Beneficiaries - rorting the system or beyond criticism?

To get something going here....

From the poverty focussed candidate meeting yesterday at Knox Church: "'Assault' on beneficiaries criticised" (ODT) - and it was claimed that all beneficiaries were "desperate" for work.

What does each candidate think about this? Are no beneficiaries "using" the system'?

Or should no beneficiaries be criticised so other beneficiaries don't feel put down?
