The Pirate Party's core policies are simple and few; we aim to substantially reform copyright law and the patent system, keep government transparent and accountable, and ensure that citizens's rights to privacy are respected.

The Pirate Party is running 2 candidates in Hamilton East and Wellington Central. Previously, we contested the Botany By-election in March 2011.

There are Pirate Parties in about 40 countries worldwide, 17 of which are officially registered and some of which even have elected MPs in the Berlin State Parliament and the European Parliament. The Pirate Party of New Zealand is now a part of this global movement, and aims to also become officially registered once we have 500 financial members.
