I am a part of the NZ diverse community campaigning for the best interests of all New Zealanders.
I have been working in the social services sector for the last 11 years and have recently completed a Law Degree (LLB) from the University of Auckland. I am very much a “grass roots” person and I have extensive experience working in the central government and in the community sector.
I have been serving the ethnic community through various governance roles and voluntary work. I have developed strong grassroots connections with many migrant and refugee communities advocating for social cohesion and settlement issues.
I joined the NZ Labour Party in 2001 and was actively involved in the 2002 and 2005 general election campaigns. I stood as a list candidate in 2008.
I have been the chairperson of the New Lynn LEC since 2008, committee member of the Northland and Auckland Regional Council, committee member of the Ethnic Council, chairperson of the Chinese Branch in New Lynn, a member of the Women’s Council and a member of three Policy Committees. I work closely with many MPs and often am called upon by their offices to provide assistance.
I belong to the Labour Party because it promotes social justice, equality and opportunities for all not just a few. I am standing for election, because I believe the input of energy, talent and expertise from the diverse community will ensure a brighter future for our country.
