Sam was raised and educated in Christchurch, and graduated from Canterbury University in 2007. He returned to New Zealand after two years abroad where he worked in the not-for-profit sector in the area of healthcare research.
Collins returned to New Zealand after the February 22 earthquake to assist his family and community with the crisis.
