I am Labour's youngest candidate at 25 years old, I have a Bachelor of Communications, and have previously worked in hospitality in management postions and part time in promotions. Currently I am an elected member on the Kaipatiki Local Board, and also work part time as a manager of a restaurant. I am passionate about community and have volunteered in areas that involve community, social issues and with various youth organisations.
I am Labour because I believe in a New Zealand that is fair and equal, that supports ALL New Zealanders to be the best that they can be, and no one should have less of a chance to succeed or less rights and not face discrimination on age, gender, ability, race or sexual orientation. Throughout my 25 years I have not seen proof that National/ACT support these goals.
I am fighting for a living wage for all New Zealanders, a $15 min wage would be a step toward this, and the right to safe and fair working conditions. Equal Pay for Men and Women for doing the same job. I am against any re-introduction of Youth Rates.
Keeping the Assets we already own, kiwi's have paid for and that creates revenue for our country. Along with keeping those assets I believe in the goal of reducing this current governments debt with long term tax reform and job growth. People are struggling at all ends of the scale and I want to see a successful, vibrant New Zealand in the short term for my generation and generations that come after me.
I support Labours continued push and positive historical gains in areas such as Equality, Fairer Tax System, Creating Jobs, Early Childhood Education, Embracing Arts, Culture and Sports, Trades Training, Putting Children First, Workers Rights, Anti-Nuclear NZ, Maternity Leave, Public Transport, Environment, Housing, Support for those who are struggling, Research and Development - these are the policies our country was built on and we can have a positive future socially and economically with these goals intact.
I am proud to be a candidate for the Labour Party, the party that fights for all New Zealanders and has a vision for our future, a future we can own not sell it off.
