I am an experienced and strong advocate for the Northcote electorate, having served as a member of the North Shore City Council, Birkenhead Northcote Community Board and Glenfield Community Board. I was born in Glenfield, attended Northcote College, had my first job locally and have studied at AUT’s Akoranga Campus.

After completing my BA at the University of Auckland in 2004 I spent three years in London working as a public affairs advisor before moving back to the North Shore. I have an MPhil in public policy with First Class Honours and am currently undertaking my PhD in Public Policy researching women’s political participation in the Pacific.

I’m motivated by the communities which make up the Northcote electorate. We have seen people struggling with the rising cost of living, cuts to early childhood education and unemployment. This is what spurred me to move away from local body politics to try to find a solution at central government level.

Transport_

I have always advocated for the tunnel option for the second harbour crossing and will continue to do so as your MP. This is a nationally significant transport link and should be a top priority for the Auckland region. I also believe that this needs to be fully integrated with public transport.

Environment

Our natural environment is also incredibly important and we need to protect our precious bush reserves from over-development. I want to ensure that the Kauri Point Ammunition Depot stays within public hands when the Defence force decides to move on.

Adult Community Eduation

Our community was hit hard by the cuts to Adult Community Education. This provided a vital service to our community for people seeking to expand their skill-base and re-enter the job market. Labour will reverse the cuts that the National government made.__I believe that strong communities and an economy that serves for the aspirations of Kiwi families will deliver to all New Zealander’s a fairer and more prosperous future.

Labour believes in owning our own future by protecting our land and vital assets and growing our economy. This is what will help get families ahead, and this is why I am proud to be the Labour Candidate for the Northcote Electorate.
