Rimutaka is my home, I live here, my kids go to school here, and I'm committed to working for our community to build a brighter future for us all.  I'm committed to Rimutaka.  Help me give our community a strong voice in John Key's National Party.

Top 5 Issues

  1. Building a stronger economy
    • Balance the books sooner.
    • Borrow less so we can have lower interest rates for longer.
    • Keep personal taxes lower to encourage hard work.
    • Make New Zealand more competitive so our exporters can sell more overseas and create more real jobs.
    • Encourage savings and investments.
    • Use the mixed-Ownership model to fund infrastructure to help us grow faster.
    • Invest in skills training and tertiary education that gets results.
  2. Building world-class infrastructure
    • Ultra-fast broadband for greater innovation.
    • More, and better, roads to ease congestion.
    • Investing in more rail and public transport.
  3. Building a safer New Zealand
    • Staying strong on crime – tougher sentencing, stronger bail laws, and a focus on victims.
    • Keep working to lower the crime rate further so our families are safer.
    • Making our roads safer, so we can keep the road toll lower.
  4. Rebuilding Christchurch
    • $5.5 billion recovery fund
    • Re-establishing essential infrastructure
    • More construction-related training
  5. Building better public services
    • Better Schools – identifying and helping children falling behind, school reports in plain English.
    • World-class healthcare –more doctors and nurses, more operations, shorter waiting times.
    • Effective welfare- more people back into work, more incentives to work, payment cards for teens on benefits.

Personal Profile

I live in Te Marua with my wife, Kylie, and our three children - Jack (8), Abraham (7), and Brooke (3).  Jack and Abraham attend primary school in the electorate and Brooke is at a local Te Kohanga Reo.  I studied at the Univeristy of Auckland, completing a BA in Politics and Management Studies.  I also completed a Diploma in Performing Arts from Excel School of Performing Arts majoring in Bass Guitar.

I was brought up in a home that valued work, the son of a school teacher and curtain maker.  I started my working experience with the normal kiwi kid jobs such as the paper run, supermarket, and petrol station - during University I did a stint as a truck driver and also as a labourer.  After finishing my studies I've spent the last decade or so in the mobile phone industry and then the finance sector.

I'm passionate about social issues, in particular families, and understand from life experience the challenges the current working family face.  I want to be the voice of Rimutaka, the voice of the middle and working class family, in John Key's next National Government.
