Policy interests/expertise: I have a professional knowledge of community development with a particular interest in how the services required will impact on finite natural resources. I would work towards implementing policies which enable communities to be more sustainable. In the short term, I will work towards returning the right of people to become involved in appropriate decision making under the Resource Management Act. This will include greater access to the process and provision of resources to those who are affected by development from which they have no financial benefit. I have an interest in the retention and enhancement of natural forests, in particular those that border streams. I wish to see further research into the best way to provide ourselves with sustainable energy.
My broad political issues: Ensuring that appropriate decision making happens in all environmental and resource allocation is vital to me. Giving power to those affected rather than those with financial or political might. Providing for needs not wants.
Additional information: I have many years experience in guiding politicians through the resource management process, ensuring that all issues and all points of view are considered . I have acquired the skills needed to see issues in the round and find workable solutions to problems.
